Sketch - March 3, 2026
Started to draw on my lunch break when I can, using a Field Notes notebook and a pen that I always carry with me in my purse.
I enjoyed the challenge of drawing in pen, as it required more forethought before committing a line to the page. In that way, it felt like putting what I had learned to the test.
- a pen drawing of some flowers and twine objects in a vase
- I like the dual light source shading here, as well as the overall composition
- I think the vase could use some better perspective/shaping
- the vase referenced
- a partly-referenced, party-made up coffee shop scene
- I like how the perspective worked here, it's not too extreme in each individual part, but it makes sense in the entire composition
- I really like the poke-thru vases on the top shelf
- I don't remember where I learned the "don't draw every brick, just add a few and the brain will know what to do" tip, but I'm glad I did. A ton of bricks would have ruined the drawing.
- referenced coffee shop for the drawing
