I did a few sketches at a park today, working on perspective and drawing from imagination.

  • a sketch of some cubes, a sphere, and a floating island
    • The cubes was loosely based on this "The Art Coach" video
    • I realized at some point that I was gonna draw cubes in front of the ones I already drew, and messed up on obscuring the hidden faces 😭
    • I don't like how the sphere came out, I think maybe delineating the different shaded areas with lines would help make it look better
    • Or I could use tighter cross hatching lines
    • The mountain island was just trying to create something without any reference
    • It took a few passes to get the peaks and valleys of the mountain to read correctly. Once I realized that generally most "flat" areas would be the midtone (single hatched), the sides of peaks would be white(no hatching), and the backs of peaks would be black (twice hatched), that helped a lot.
